Book Review: The Seer’s Path

Ana Werner

CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

Some spiritual gifts are obvious. Others, not so much. I spent most of my childhood surrounded by talent. My brother and several of my closest friends were gifted musicians. I tried. The flute baffled me. I couldn’t remember finger positions. It was a struggle. I sang in our bona fide High School Glee Club, but I don’t think it was on key. I knew music wasn’t my thing, but I fought it, overshadowed by so many people who understood music like breathing air.

Book Review: The Essential Guide to Prayer

Dutch Sheets
BY JUDITH FOLKERTS

CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

When someone understands the power behind prayer, that person prays, and is always wanting to pray most effectively. I went to a gathering of intercessors this week. I sat in a beautiful cherry-stained wooden chair with textured burgundy leather cushions, one of rows of identical seats in a prominent meeting place. In these sturdy seats sat Prayer Warriors among Prayer Warriors. Two or three dozen people had traveled from various locations to learn more about prayer and to prayer together. As we sat and amassed shared wisdom and prayer strategies, I was overwhelmed. Each of these people understood prayer’s power with every ounce of their being, so much so that they had made it their lifestyle. These were people I was honored to sit among, people that I wanted to know.

Book Review: Through The Eyes of A Lion

Levi Lusko

CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

Last week another winter season ended on March 19th. Eleven years ago we left the hospital that night, snowflakes speckling the harsh lighting of the hospital as we walked to our cars. I had given birth to our son just hours before, and we left him in his cradle, brand-new pale blue hand-knit sweater on his sweet little body, and soft cap on his tiny, perfect head. It was the last time we would see him, our son’s birth day, and only day. He was buried in a small white casket a few days later.  As his casket was lowered, harsh wind caused us to shiver and we held onto our hats, the wind was so bone-chilling cold and strong.

Book Review: Translating God

Sean Bolz
BY JUDITH FOLKERTS

CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

“You have a voice. Don’t be afraid to speak up.” That’s what the young lady, unknown to us, briefly prophesied to my daughter after church. On the drive home, my teenage daughter told me that she had been feeling invisible with new places and new people as a result of big changes in her life. The word had encouraged her tremendously. This is personal prophecy as it should be. It was gentle, uplifting and kind. Those few words gave her courage, and she began to speak up, and things improved for her when she did.

Angel Armies: Releasing the Warriors of Heaven

Tim Sheets

CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

The kids had just left for school, and my cell phone, 12” or so from my head, rang. It was 6:50 a.m. I saw my son’s name and little head shot graphic on my blinding screen and answered, “Hello?” It was still dark, and we lived on a hilly, twisty road that caused me to answer such calls with a hint of worry in my voice.

Book Review: Operating in The Courts of Heaven

The location of the house had not yet been revealed by the successive GPS screens. I had never been to the area, even though it was just a few winding miles away from our home of four years. I was squinting at the black and neon image on the tiny screen, in an attempt to ascertain where we were next headed.

Book Review: Fasting for Breakthrough & Deliverance

John Eckhardt
BY JUDITH FOLKERTS

CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

If God has put it on your heart to fast for the first time, you will have questions. My first serious fast was preceded by evenings online, searching for everything I could find on things to do, and not to do, when you fast. Most of the information back then was from secular outlets, where fasting was part of stringent health protocols for detoxing and other health benefits.

Book Review: Leviathan Exposed

Robert Hotchkin
BY JUDITH FOLKERTS
Picture
CULTURE  /  BOOK REVIEWS

Robert Hotchkin has, indeed, exposed the often undetected spirit of Leviathan in his book, Leviathan Exposed. This exposure has already had a profound impact on the Kingdom of God. In this hour, chaos and confusion have overtaken many relationships that were once havens of love and acceptance. This book is essential reading for any frontline Kingdom worker. It can shed light in darkness and can prevent the destruction of well-situated, godly relationships that are oblivious to Leviathan’s existence and agenda.
