The conference had been fabulous. We are Graham Cook groupies, of sorts. We listen to him and are reminded that sure, it’s hard, but God is for us, we are warriors, and we are victors. We laugh as he tells stories of his demonstrations of obedience and faith, and he reassures us, again, that he’s just another guy, like us. So, I was not surprised that Barb had fun seeing Graham in Oregon.
Barb gave my husband a CD set of the conference for his June birthday. It went on the "To Listen To" shelf and I forgot that it was the actual conference that she attended. I traveled a lot the following months and was able to listen to the 8+ hour set of teachings. I was challenged, contemplative, motivated and even undone at times by some of the new content within this set. Anyone who knows Graham well knows his testimony and many of his stories, occasionally repeated on various teachings. But one never minds. These stories seem funnier every time, and sometimes illustrate new themes or admonishments.
It has been a couple of months since I listened to this Making a Prophetic Impact series, but one theme has stuck with me and I think and hope it always will. Graham Cooke explains that we are given prophesies to encourage and guide us, but the bigger the prophecy, the more we have to cooperate with it in order for it to come to pass. He says that when we receive a prophecy, it is God’s BEST for our lives. He is giving us the best case scenario, and we must make decisions and take initiatives that keep us on the path and move us ahead to this prophecy. We should not be surprised that the enemy fights against it. I have applied these truths repeatedly since I have learned them. Keep in mind, however, that this is but one of dozens of truths and themes that Graham exhorts us to grab hold of and live. If you have never listened to Graham, I encourage you to do so. His confidence in our Lord is truly inspiring.
By the way, when I finished this series, I wanted to share it with Barb. I was parking the car at IHOP (omelets this time) excited to tell her about this incredible teaching set. Then I remembered. She was the one who had given it to us. She had already heard it. She had been there. Blessed is she!
