But this is not end times living for Christians dedicated to building His Kingdom. In these days, there are no benchwarmers.
There will be seasons when we are called to work out, or to rest. But still, we're in the game. Even if we're not on the street evangelizing, or feeding the poor, or healing the sick, we're praying. We're filling ourselves with the Word, fortifying ourselves with His presence. If we haven't realized our calling and seen personal prophesies fulfilled, we're basking in His glory as we worship Him and thank Him for His goodness, while He prepares us, and gets us ready for the frontline work.
He is a good King. Still, preparation for battle can hurt as we build muscles. The fruit of the Spirit is sometimes cultivated under unpleasant conditions. But His acceptance of us has nothing to do with how we perform. In fact, He is delighted by our dependence on Him and tells us to cry out to Him when we need some help.
If it's a day when you feel like you've been benched, you haven’t. If you think you've been waiting a long time to get off the bench, don’t dismay. Jesus has told us to pray to the Lord of the Harvest for workers (Matthew 9:38). You are needed and are the answer to these prayers of believers around the world.
It won't be long until you will know that you're in the game. He's been preparing you, not benching you. It's going to be a great season.
