Names, dates, theories and theorems are all available with a few clicks and the right search engine key words. The massive amount of information available to us increases exponentially each day, and "facts" are changed and upgraded as a result of newly-acquired data. Even Solomon grew tired of too much information. In Ecclesiastes 12:11 he writes; “Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.” When all is said, studied, and done, here are 5 important things that should be remembered;
1. You are light in the world! Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16) In a world of darkness, God has a job for you. Your task is to shine!
2. When you can be trusted in small things, He will trust you with bigger things. Luke 16:10 puts it this way; “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” So, if you want to do big things for God, do the littles ones well, first.
Highest honors go to humility instead of high social status.
4. You don’t need to figure it all out. When people ask what your life plans are, it's ok to not be sure yet! Many people who are confident that they know end up not doing what they planned, anyway. Keep focusing on God to show you, and look and listen for His guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 takes the stress off of us; “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” God already has plans for us. He will reveal what you need to know as you draw close to Him, and with each step you take. According to Ephesians 2:10, “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Psalm 48:14 also assures us of His guidance; “For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” He’s got you covered!
We can’t come up with dreams that compare to God’s reality for our lives!
God has raised you up to be part of a Kingdom-building army. John 15:16 declares our purpose; "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you." Whether you are sure of your calling, or if you have no clue what He has for you, He will make that clear! As you move forward and take your next exciting steps, love and trust our precious Lord, and you will see! He is a God of good things, treasures and surprises!
To all graduates;
‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”
