Consider taking some time this year to bless your mom in a way that may be new to you, and her. If it’s the thought that counts, then these thoughtful and creative gifts will make her smile, long after flowers will have faded.
1. Turn a blank book into a story book about her life. Use copies of old photos, or draw childlike, simple pictures. Write a basic biography, emphasizing highlights, anniversaries, birthdays and vacations. This can be a group project, too, including siblings and grandchildren as a family project.
Think Christmas stocking in Spring!
2. Show her how much you know and appreciate her by filling a decorative box with her favorite things. Depending on your budget, fill the box with everything from a dvd of her favorite movie, to a gift card to her favorite coffee place, sweets, tea, scented items, flower seeds, a scarf in her best colors, framed photos of her favorite people, etc. Think Christmas stocking in Spring!
3. Download and print family photos and make a photo album. Printed photos are becoming rare as digital pictures take over. Rewind time and create a photo album so that your mom will be able to reminisce, even when the computer and phones are off.
“The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” –(Isaiah 40:8)
Consider what makes her happiest and try to capture that in her gift.
The amount of love that you put into your gift to your mom will be the part of her gift that blesses her the most. Consider what makes her happiest and try to capture that in her gift. Then you will be like the children of the Proverbs 31 woman; “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:28)
